School camps
Each year we offer a 2 night camp to our Year 5 and 6 students. We alternate between the Queensland Recreational Centre Sites of; Tallebudgera on the Gold Coast, or Currimundi on the Sunshine Coast. This camp is generally held in term 1 of the school year.
School camps provide students with valuable learning opportunities not usually available in the school or home setting and as such our students will participate in a variety of activities and adventures such as low ropes course, canoeing, climbing wall, archery, orienteering and games. These activities will be conducted by experienced and accredited camp staff and supported by our classroom teachers and modified to suit the age and ability level of the students.
The camp program is focussed on providing new opportunities and experiences that are planned to encourage critical thinking, problem solving and skills related to lifelong learning. The camp programs will be challenging but rewarding for all students who attend.
Excursions/Incursions
During the year, teachers arrange excursions or incursions for classes and student groups. These are always directly related to the units of work being studied during the semester. Students in Prep to Year 4 are offered one excursion and/or incursion per semester. Parent helpers may be needed from time to time and in such circumstances parents are encouraged to participate wherever possible.
