Active School Travel
We are walking, cycling, skating, scooting, carpooling and
using public transport again in 2018. We made significant progress in 2017 in
increasing the percentage of our students to walk and ride to and from school
each day. The 2018 AST launch was on Wednesday, 7 February and began with a
healthy fruit breakfast.
Walking Wheeling Wednesdays will commence on Wednesday, 14th
February and students can walk, cycle, skate,
car pool or use public transport on the journey to and from school. Two
Walking School Buses will also commence on that date.
If you are joining the Sandgate Walking School Bus, then you
need to muster at the Scout’s Hall on Brighton Road from 7.50am and we will
depart for school at 8am sharp. The trip is a lovely relaxing walk or ride
around Dowse Lagoon to the school crossing in Keogh Street. Either Mrs McEwen
or Mr Beetson will be on the bus each week.
We are also trialling a Deagon Walking School Bus from
Stanley Park on Albury Street Road, leaving at 7.45am for school. Mr Harris and
Chappy Sam will be on the bus and we will gauge the numbers to see if the bus
continues, so please support it.
Students can still sign up and receive their AST passport through the class teacher.
We thank Councillor Jared Cassidy, Deagon Ward for donating a Scooter and stand for the Semester 1 motivational prize.
