Sandgate State School

Welcome PDF Print E-mail

My name is Warren Beetson and I was privileged to be appointed as Principal of Sandgate State School in term 3 of 2008. I have been the Principal of various State Schools for the past 14 years. I am passionate about the quality of public education in Queensland and the rich diversity that our education system embraces.

The schools I have previously been the proud Principal of, include culturally diverse Darra in Brisbane West, rural and remote Alpha P-10 in the Longreach District, timber town Benarkin in the South Burnett and Mount Whitestone in the rich fruit and vegetable bowl of the Lockyer Valley.

Sandgate State School is an extraordinary school. Students in our school are integral to a community rich in learning and teaching. Our Curriculum provides students with opportunities to learn about the world through experiences both inside and beyond the classroom walls. It is from their engagement in the simulated and real life experiences provided that our students develop life-long learning habits and sustainable relationships.

At Sandgate State School, we know that every child is unique. It is our responsibility to recognise and nurture the potential of every student in a safe and supportive environment. Our students learn to embrace challenges, to challenge traditional thinking and become active citizens in a rapidly changing society. Sandgate State School’s ongoing success reflects the strong support of parents and the sustained commitment of a dedicated staff. The Music Program at Sandgate State School is one of a number of school programs that is well known for its high quality, inclusiveness and the dynamic teachers that coordinate them. Over half the student population, from Prep to Year 7, participate in choirs and vocal groups. The school is very proud of its large boy’s choir that is one of a number of positive strategies that assists in meeting the needs of our boys in the middle phase of learning.

The comprehensive Instrumental Music Program complements the vocal program. The school’s modern swimming pool complex facilitates 2 lessons a week for students and is also the base for community swimming groups. It is the clear intention of both the school’s Deputy Principal, Mrs Rebecca Jones and I, to continue to lead the Sandgate State School community in providing a school environment for our young people where learning and individuals are valued.

Ever Aim High!
